2 Steps to Measure Your Bust Size!

Updated: May 10, 2023

Learn how to easily measure your bust size easily in just two steps

Do you know what your bust size is? Bust size may change from time to time due to hormones, pregnancy/ breastfeeding, etc. It is good to measure and be sure of your bust size to ensure that you are wearing the right bra size for you!

You may wear an unlined bra (a bra with only a single layer of fabric and no padding) during this process. Prepare a measuring tape beforehand and let’s begin!

Step 1: Measure your band size

Wrap the measuring tape around your chest, placing the measuring tape where your bra band is. Make sure to keep the tape as level as you can. Keep in mind to have the measuring tape as close-fitting as possible but it should not be digging into your skin. Round up to the nearest whole number. If the whole number is an even number, add 4 inches. If the whole number is an odd number, add 5 inches.

Example 1:

  • Measurement = 34 inches

  • Band size = 34 + 4 = 38 inches

Example 2:

  • Measurement = 35 inches

  • Band size is =35 + 5 = 40 inches

Step 2: Measure your cup size

Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest area of your bust (around the nipple area). Deduct your band size to this number. Refer to the table below for your cup size.

Example 1:

  • Band size = 38 inches

  • Cup measurement = 40 inches

  • Difference = 2 inches

  • Cup size = B

Example 2:

  • Band size = 40 inches

  • Cup measurement = 44 inches

  • Difference = 4 inches

  • Cup size = D

Simply bring together the results from step 1 and step 2 to get your bust size!

Example 1:

  • Band size = 38 inches

  • Cup size = B

  • Bust size = 38B

Example 2:

  • Band size = 40 inches

  • Cup size = D

  • Bust size = 40D

Sometimes, measurements are not perfect and that is okay! If the cup size does not fit you perfectly, try going down a cup size and going up a band size or vise versa.

Example 1:

  • Measured Bust size = 38B

  • Try = 36C or 40A

Example 2:

  • Measured Bust Size =40D

  • Try = 38E(DD) or 42C

You may refer to the table below for your easy reference.
